The Brandeis-Bardin Institute and the University of Judaism formed The American Jewish University so that both organizations could better serve the Los Angeles Jewish community through their offerings of not only Camp Alonim, but lecture series featuring prominent scholars, educators and political figures, weekend retreats, think tanks, cultural classes, tours and experiences, as well as graduate and undergraduate classes to train the next generation of Jewish leaders. ''Camp is an amazing experience. The staff are friendly and outgoing and the programming is outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming the minute you enter. It is truly the best three weeks of my year. The countdown until the next time I get to be back at the place I love with the people I love starts immediately after the session ends.
